According to the New York Times, The House of Representitives has passed a bill "intended to address the threat of global warming." This bill overcame many deep divides within the house-- it passed 219 to 212-- but still falls short of European standards and expectations.
It may not be perfect, but I'm glad that it passed at all. For years the US has lagged behind other industrialized nations regarding carbon dioxide emissions. Any effort at all is preferable to none, even though it might not be sufficient to avert the worst environmental change. Hopefully we can improve standards later.
I agree. I also posted about this very same thing. What must be done to convince people that this is a real, growing problem? Obama even referred to global warming as a "national security issue".
ReplyDeleteIt's going to be interesting to see how the Senate deals with the bill in the upcoming weeks.
Man is not responsible for changes in Earth's climate.

Most of Earth's climate changes over the past 4 billion years have been due to increased sun activity.
If you believed Al Gore, look up how to fudge a graph and you'll see what he did.
People that work for the EPA are not concerned about this issue.
It is all about making money and politics. Did you ever notice how you can buy a "green" product for twice the price of the normal one?
I could go on but I don't want to turn this into a term paper.
I agree that pollution is a problem, we should not dump toxic chemicals in our lakes and streams and petroleum is a limited resource and we need to find alternative fuels.
